Positioning

  • Lateral recumbency
  • Affected side down
  • Extend limb cranially
  • Ensure in true lateral
  • Support if required
  • Centre over digits
  • Collimate to include all toes and distal section of radius and ulna
  • Ensure L/R marker in primary beam.

What to look for

  • Ensure foot in true lateral.

Top tips

  • Padding under the elbow can help to achieve a true lateral
  • In dogs with anti-brachial deformities extra padding may help get a true lateral
