Practice your ultrasound guided needle biopsies

Bit nervous about your ultrasound guided needle biopsies. No problem. There is a really easy way to practice these using just some tofu, olives, cling film and some gel.
Ultrasound is ideal with biopsies, as you can see where the edge of the needle is and avoid any vascular structures.
1. Take some Tofu, cut in half and add a selection of olives.
2. Place the two halves back together, hiding the olives inside.
3. Wrap in cling film.
4. Place back in packaging, this holds it steady.
5. Now you are ready to practice your biopsies. Use lots of ultrasound gel over the surface of the cling film. The key here is that you position yourself so that you can look directly down the path of the needle.
Also do be very careful that you do not prick the rubberised edge of the probe face with the needle. Remember the probe is the really expensive part of the ultrasound scanner!
You can now practice away.
